Easedale Tarn & Helm Crag

Starting at the hotel, and after making our way up to Easedale Tarn we then drop down to the base of Helm Crag, where we head for the summit, and back via Helmside into Grasmere for a well deserved pint!

Route Information

  • Difficulty - Moderate

Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, Cold Pike, Pike o' Blisco

After either getting the bus or driving to Langdale, we start from the Old Dungeon Ghyll where we make our way up the Band to the summit of Bowfell, then to Crinkle Crags, which involves a small section of minor scrambling (the bad step) then onwards to Cold Pike, and finally descending to Pike o' Blisco for a pint at the Old Dungeon Ghyll!

All 4 summits on this route are Wainwrights.

Bowfell, Langdale Pikes, Pavey Ark

After either getting the bus or driving to Langdale, we start from the Old Dungeon Ghyll where we make our way up the Band to the summit of Bowfell, from there we drop down to Rossett Pike and onto the Cumbrian way before heading to Pike o' Stickle, Loft Crag, Harrison Stickle, then descending via Pavey Ark.

  • Estimated Time - 7 - 8 Hours
  • Difficulty - Hard with a lot of ascent, only for capable walkers

Fairfield

From the centre of Grasmere, we summit Fairfield via Great Tounge, and make our descent down Great Rigg, Rydal Fell, Heron Pike, & Nab Scar. After arriving in Rydal we follow the coffin trail back to Grasmere.

This route covers 4 Wainwrights, Fairfield itself, Great Rigg, Heron Pike, & Nab Scar.

Helvellyn, Dollywagon Pike, Seat Sandal

We start by getting the 555 to Thirlspot, and begin the walk from there.

After taking the tourist path to the summit of Helvellyn we descend via Nethermost Pike, Dollywagon Pike, to Seat Sandal, then finishing down Great Tongue into Grasmere.
